Why I Created A Blog
I created WellFitMommy because I wanted a wellness resource for pregnant and postpartum mommies to be able to get the information and tools they need to keep both baby and mom happy and healthy!
While fitness is such a key factor in physical and emotional health, there are many other areas of wellness that are often underappreciated.
Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Social, Spiritual, and Occupational wellness must be in balance for optimal health and happiness.
WellFitMommy Is You
Pregnancy, childbirth, and mommyhood changes the body and mind in ways only a mommy can understand. These changes make it much more difficult to maintain life balance. Time is of essence – but it IS possible to find time for you and your health AND be a kick-ass mom!

Wellness Is My Heart
My path to wellness started when I became a fitness instructor in 2003. I chose to teach fitness classes to help prevent the notorious “Freshman 15” in college. Little did I know that choice would turn into a lifetime of dedication to wellness.
My education and career path in wellness could not have been better suited for me. I needed it and fell back on it many times in more recent years.
In the past 6 years I have had 3 babies, 3 miscarriages, lost all of my grandparents, and most tragically – cared for my mother, my best friend, who lost her life to ALS at the young age of 60 after a year and 10 month courageous and heartbreaking battle.
In the past 4 years I have dealt with autoimmune issues that have impacted my life in negative ways. These life-changing events are very personal and have come with a billion ever-changing emotional and physical barriers.
I choose happiness daily even when life is difficult. I attribute that personality trait to my mother. My favorite quote is “My mother worked too hard for me to be anything but great.” I share my personal story in hopes that it will encourage others to be resilient in the face of hard times.
Mommyhood Changes Everything, but Matters The Most
It is one thing to eat healthy, exercise enough, and create personal time pre-babies. It is QUITE another to do those things during pregnancy and after having a baby, and it is a whole other ball game doing those things when you are faced with life challenges simultaneously. However, I am personal proof that IT IS POSSIBLE! We are not immune to tragedy, no matter how many times we have to face it. What we DO have control over is how we take care of our bodies, how we manage stress, and how we bounce back from change. This is why putting YOU first is essential.

My Proudest Accomplishment
Most importantly, I am a mommy! I have 4 kids, all 6 and under (yikes)! My oldest daughter is 6, and I have two sons ages 4, and 2. I recently had my fourth baby, a girl.
I also have two fur babies. One 11 year old dog, Larry, who is nicknamed “Larry The Legend”, an escape artist with 9 lives. The other, Killbucks II Charlotte Milan (a.k.a. “Charlee”) is my husbands high energy hunting puppy.
Life is crazy, but being a mother is the most challenging, rewarding, wonderfully messy blessing I have, and I would not have it any other way!
